Last October 6, Guy Gilboa-Dalal promised his father he would dismantle their sukkah, the temporary hut erected in the backyard for the Sukkot holiday, after he returned from the Nova rave.
On October 7, Gilboa-Dalal was one of 44 Nova partygoers who were kidnapped and taken hostage to Gaza by Hamas terrorists, while 364 others were killed in the massacre that took place on the festival grounds outside Kibbutz Re’im, many amid acts of brutality and sexual assault.
In total, Hamas-led terrorists killed some 1,200 people and kidnapped 251 hostages, mostly civilians, in their rampage across southern Israeli communities that day.
Since then, 140 hostages have been released or rescued, and 101 hostages, including Gilboa-Dalal, remain in Gaza.
When the Gilboa-Dalals found out that Guy had been taken hostage by Hamas terrorists on that black Shabbat day, they decided to leave their simple sukkah structure standing in their backyard until he came back home, “leaving it as a sign of hope,” said Gal Gilboa-Dalal, Guy’s older brother.
“We’ve sat in the sukkah all year long,” said Gilboa-Dalal, describing their version of the typical sukkah popular throughout Israel, made of simple PVC pipes strung with white sheeting.
Their father puts it together every year, and Guy, who lives at home, always helps him put it up and dismantle it.
The sukkah is now full of pictures of Guy, and Guy’s friends visit the family and sit in the sukkah, said Gilboa-Dalal.
“They hold each other in the hope and optimism that he’s coming back,” he said.
Gal Gilboa-Dalal’s parents, Meirav Gilboa Dalal and Ilan Dalal and his younger sister, 16, as well as Guy, live in Alfei Menashe, a community built on the seam line between Israel and the West Bank.

The family home is a garden apartment, with a large backyard “that makes you feel like you’re in nature,” said Gilboa-Dalal.
When Guy Gilboa-Dalal went to the Nova desert rave on October 6, 2023, he traveled with three friends, an outing they had planned for months. He met up with his brother, Gal, early in the morning on October 7, just as the party was getting underway.
The two brothers met, hugged, and took a selfie, which Guy sent to their mother. When the Hamas terrorists attacked at 6:30 a.m., the brothers attempted to escape, each in separate cars, a few minutes apart.

It took Gal Gilboa-Dalal some seven and a half hours to escape, running and hiding in fields, surrounded by gun volleys and without any word from his brother.
Within several hours, their family found a video of Guy and his best friend Evyatar David being taken hostage in Gaza, along with footage of them tied up, lying in a tunnel.
Both are still held hostage in Gaza.
Since then, the Gilboa-Dalals have focused all their attention on the struggle to bring the hostages home.
As they mark one year since Guy was taken hostage, Gilboa-Dalal said the family will sit in the sukkah but they won’t celebrate, just as they’ve done during all the other holidays during the past year.
“Maybe we’ll eat a little something in the sukkah, but it won’t be celebratory, it won’t be in the spirit of the holiday, it won’t be like last year, when we gathered with the whole family,” said Gilboa-Dalal. “We hold each other, and we hold Guy from afar.”
Gal Gilboa-Dalal said he hasn’t spent much time on his own recovery after the massacre, instead focusing all of his attention on his brother, attending diplomatic missions, speaking to the press and to politicians to ensure that that story of the hostages remains in the headlines.
“It’s preferable to do something than not to do anything,” he said.

“Those earlier rallies were without politics, and they showed we were united as a country, that was worthwhile,” he said. “Now they’re just about our internal conflicts and serve our enemies more than my brother.”
Gilboa-Dalal has received some treatment as a Nova survivor but is less interested in delving into his recovery until the hostages are released home.
“All that interests me is Guy,” said Gilboa-Dalal. “What helps me is anything that is connected to him.”
The last sign of life the Gilboa-Dalals had of Guy was in June, when four hostages, Noa Argamani, Shlomi Ziv, Almog Meir Jan and Andrey Kozlov were rescued from Hamas captivity in Gaza in a daring operation by Israeli forces.
According to one of the rescued hostages who wasn’t identified, he was held with Gilboa-Dalal and several other hostages in the same room.
The freed hostage indicated that while Gilboa-Dalal and the other hostages were in good physical condition at the time, they were severely abused by their captors. The rescued hostage said they were both physically and mentally abused and received very little food and drink.
“Honestly, we don’t know anything,” said Gal Gilboa-Dalal. “That last thing that we heard was months ago.”
His parents aren’t in good shape, said Gilboa-Dalal. His younger sister has a routine that involves school, friends and her youth group, and she tries to stick to it.
“It’s hard,” he said. “None of us are around, and her best friend, Guy, isn’t here. We’re all missing him but we’re strong and we love each other and we’re optimistic.” link

The Kan public broadcaster reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has “effectively” decided against calls from far-right ministers in his government to have the IDF be tasked with distributing humanitarian aid in Gaza.
The call was issued amid claims that Hamas has managed to maintain control over aid distribution.
The security establishment has pushed back against the far-right proposal, fearing that it would endanger troops and lead to the army indefinitely occupying Gaza.
Kan says Israel will instead look into hiring a private security contractor, though analysts have long dismissed the idea as unrealistic.
The international community has pushed for Israel to allow the Palestinian Authority to take over such operations, but Netanyahu has rejected the idea outright.
Anarchy in Gaza, Clans Looting Aid Under Hamas' Direction - and the New Police Force Established
Sources in Gaza tell N12: "Humanitarian aid trucks have recently been looted by crime families, in coordination with and under the direction of Hamas" • Meanwhile, the terrorist organization has established the "Arrow Police" to create governance - but it uses force against civilians • The "hard core" that remains in northern Gaza and what's behind the transfer of aid from Israel? More than a year has passed since October 7, and Hamas is not shy about using means to create governance and use humanitarian aid entering the Strip - instead of it reaching residents. Sources in Gaza told N12 in a conversation this morning (Tuesday) that they are "recently witnessing the looting of humanitarian aid trucks leaving Kerem Shalom by clans, some of it in coordination with and under the direction of Hamas."
Crime Families Loot Aid - Hamas Profits
Clans, considered crime families in the Strip, are looting humanitarian aid. Hamas receives money from selling that aid - or it gets a certain portion of the looted goods. However, Hamas is not content with that. A source in the Gaza Strip told N12 that "Hamas operatives are also directly taking some of the humanitarian aid that arrives in Khan Younis and the humanitarian area in Muwasi. They come there, take the aid and distribute it to whomever they want, or sometimes sell it and use that money to pay operatives in their ranks. In fact, Hamas is taking food out of the mouths of residents."
Hamas' "Arrow Police" Enforcing Governance with Violence
Hamas is doing everything to create control and about a month ago established the "Arrow Police," which is subordinate to the internal security mechanism and is intended to create public order. Its operatives are armed not only with batons but also with rifles, and they operate in the southern Strip while using much violence and conducting harsh interrogations. The body that was established was recently reopened by Hamas. This is, among other things, a perceptual move, signaling to the population in the Strip that the terrorist organization has survivability and that it can still operate.
Transfer of Aid to Northern Gaza and the "Hard Core" Remaining There
Yesterday, 30 trucks of flour and food from the WFP organization were transferred from Ashdod port through the 'Erez West' crossing to northern Gaza, for the first time after the IDF re-entered the area more than a week ago. The transfer of aid was announced last night by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories.
The introduction of aid is taking place against the backdrop of pressure on Israel from the international community. However, in practice, according to Defense Ministry data - only about 250,000 Gazans remain in northern Gaza, considered the "hard core" that has not evacuated for an entire year, and Hamas itself is fighting to prevent them from evacuating. For example, the terrorist organization set up mobile checkpoints on main routes to prevent them from leaving. On the other hand, in southern Gaza, where aid is being looted, about 1.9 million Gazans live in crowded conditions, in addition to about 10,000 residents who have settled in Rafah, according to estimates. In the same area, clans operate that in recent days have published statements themselves condemning the looting of aid.
Mohammed al-Astal, head of the al-Astal clan in Khan Younis, claimed earlier this week that at least 50 aid trucks were looted. He noted that the clans appointed groups of young people to protect aid trucks from theft, and claimed: The clans condemn these looters and see them as "a more dangerous enemy than the occupation." Gaza influencer Hamza al-Masri claimed last week that out of 45 trucks that entered southern Gaza, 43 trucks were looted by gangs composed of clan members. According to him, the goods stolen from the trucks are to be sold in markets at high prices. He went further and published details of one of the gangs, calling on clans to disavow their members participating in looting acts. link
Hamas's extensive network in Europe exposed in a new series of reports - Reports published by the European Leadership Network (ELNET) highlight 30 Hamas affiliated actors across continent.
A series of investigative reports released on Tuesday by the European Leadership Network (ELNET) exposes an extensive network of Hamas-affiliated organizations and individuals operating across several European countries.
The reports, focusing on the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium, were released one year after the October 7 attack in Israel.
ELNET's investigation identified approximately 30 organizations and individuals with alleged ties to Hamas, some of which were formally designated by Western nations, who operate freely across the continent despite Hamas’s designation as a terrorist organization by the European Union and various other governments.
Each of the four reports is split into two sections: one is an identical all-European section, and the second one is a varying local section.
The first section revolves around actors operating in an all-European context, with individuals including Majed Al-Zeer (Germany), Mohammad Hannoun (Italy), Adel Doghman (Austria), Amin Abou Rashed (the Netherlands), Zaher Birawi (UK), and Mazen Kahel (France). In a noteworthy coincidence, the first three individuals – Zeer, Hannoun and Doghman – were all designated only last week by the US treasury for their work for Hamas, while the fourth one, Abou Rashed, has been detained for almost a year in the Netherlands and is currently being tried for alleged financing of Hamas worth millions of Euros.
In the reports, these six officials are claimed to be acting as Hamas’s operatives in each of their respective countries. The reports also highlight the operatives’ involvement in the forming of six organizations: three older ones which were designated by Israel in 2013 and were since dissolved, and three newer ones, which may imply an attempt at rebranding and circumventing sanctions.
Among the newer organizations highlighted in the all-European section of the reports are the Palestinians in Europe Conference (EPC), which reportedly hosts annual events featuring Hamas-affiliated speakers and which has been recognized by Fatah-loyalist Palestinian outlets as belonging to Hamas, as well as the European Palestinian Council for Political Relations (EUPAC), a lobbying group which had a conference canceled last week over the new US designations, as reported by The Jerusalem Post.
Notable entities in the local sections of the reports include the Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) and Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) in the UK; ABSPP in Italy; and the United Palestinian National Committee (VPNK) in Germany, all of which are related to or were established by some of the prominent actors mentioned earlier.
The report also highlights media outlets pertaining to this network, including Al-Hiwar, EPAL and Infopal, which have collaborated in the past with Hamas-affiliated outlets such as Shehab, and which serve as mouthpieces for the pro-Hamas network’s activity in Europe.
Muslim Brotherhood Axis
Another issue highlighted in the report is the usage of “civil” fronts by the Muslim Brotherhood axis, of which Hamas is a member, as a means to advance Islamist ideologies which emphasize Da'wah, or preaching Islam, while offering community services to spread radical Islam to the masses and draw them closer to Hamas’s ideologies.
Emmanuel Navon, CEO of ELNET, added, “In light of these findings, ELNET urges European governments to take swift action by thoroughly investigating and shutting down these Hamas-affiliated organizations in order to prevent Hamas from further destabilizing both the Middle East and Europe. Banks and financial institutions must closely monitor the activities of the individuals named in the reports and review their financial dealings to prevent further support for terrorist activities. ELNET further calls on research institutions and think tanks to help expose these activities to the public and ensure that Hamas’s fundraising networks in Europe are dismantled.” link

In the second, Israeli forces operating in the Palestinian city of Jenin exchanged fire with a suspect who the army says was planning on carrying out an imminent terror attack.
No Israeli troops were injured in either incident, the army adds.

- Hezbollah relinks Lebanon truce to Gaza, says new tactics aim to inflict pain on IsraelTerror group’s deputy head Naim Qassem says ceasefire is the only solution to the conflict, argues Hezbollah has right to strike all over Israel since IDF hitting all over Lebanon

BEIRUT, Lebanon — Hezbollah’s deputy chief Naim Qassem said on Tuesday his group has adopted “a new calculation” to inflict pain on Israel, even as he called for a ceasefire and seemed to relink cessation of hostilities in Lebanon with a truce in Gaza, after an official in the terror group recently said it could give up its longstanding linkage between the two fronts.
“The solution is a ceasefire, we are not speaking from a position of weakness,” Qassem said.
“If the Israelis do not want that, we will continue,” he added in a broadcast speech that drew a reaction from Israel’s president threatening to eventually kill Qassem.
The top Hezbollah figure did, however, say that the group’s willingness to agree to a ceasefire was conditional on an end to fighting in Gaza, where Israel has been at war with Hamas for more than a year.
“We were asked to stop the fighting and get more than 10 kilometers away from the border so as not to provoke Israel, but we stuck to our demand for a ceasefire in Gaza and didn’t agree to the request to separate Lebanon from Gaza,” he asserted.
He added that Hezbollah supports “the Palestinians and aids them in distancing the danger from them and preventing Israel’s expansion.”
Israel does not aim to annex the Gaza Strip, which it evacuated in 2005 in the Disengagement plan, though far-right officials have been demanding continued Israeli presence there. In its war with Hamas, Israel instead aims to dismantle the terrorist organization’s military governance capabilities after its unprecedented October 7, 2023, attack in which terrorists murdered some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took 251 hostages, the recovery of whom is another goal of the war. This picture taken from Lebanon’s southern city of Tyre shows a cloud of smoke erupting following an Israeli air strike on the village of Deir Qanoun on October 14, 2024. Qassem said Tuesday that some 60,000 residents of northern Israel who evacuated last year, after Hezbollah began its near-daily rocket and drone attacks in support of Hamas, would be able to return home after a ceasefire deal is reached through an indirect agreement.
But he threatened that more Israelis would be displaced if the war continued, saying that “the number of uninhabited settlements will increase, and hundreds of thousands, even more than two million, will be in danger at any time, at any hour, on any day.”
He claimed that since Israel has attacked all over Lebanon, the group has the right to attack anywhere in Israel.
“We will focus on targeting the Israeli military and its centers and barracks,” he said, adding that “Hezbollah is strong despite the tough hits we’ve taken, and we’ve recovered our capabilities on the battlefield.”
President Isaac Herzog reacted to Qassem’s speech while visiting the Haifa area and meeting hospitalized soldiers injured in Hezbollah’s drone strike.
“I heard Naim Qassem’s speech — he is wrong just like his predecessors and those who came before them,” he said. “Not only is he wrong — I presume his day will come as well.”
“He’s not only wrong in his disrespect to the State of Israel and its citizens,” Herzog added. “He is trying to make people forget the bitter truth — he and his friends have brought disaster upon Lebanon.”
Israel launched a major offensive against the Iran-backed Hezbollah on September 23 with the aim of allowing residents of northern Israel to return to homes they had been forced to evacuate during a year of cross-border rocket fire from Lebanon.
Beginning with heavy strikes that killed the vast majority of Hezbollah’s leadership, including leader Hassan Nasrallah, Israel proceeded to launch a limited ground offensive in southern Lebanon to dismantle the terrorist organization’s infrastructure along the border, which violates a 2006 UN Security Council stipulating that Hezbollah withdraw to some 30 kilometers north of the border.

Israeli strikes have killed at least 2,309 people in Lebanon over the last year, mainly in the last few weeks, according to the Lebanese government. The number includes at least 960 Hezbollah terrorists the IDF said it had killed in the last year but likely includes many more as the numbers of slain Hezbollah members have not been consistently updated since the beginning of the ground operation.
Meanwhile, more than 1.2 million Lebanese have been displaced. Addressing them, Qassem said they “must be patient to achieve victory, and I promise you will return to your homes that will be rebuilt.”
More than 50 IDF soldiers have been killed in the past year in Hezbollah’s attacks and in the ground operation.
The attacks on northern Israel over the last year have resulted in the deaths of 28 civilians. In addition, 38 IDF soldiers and reservists have died in cross-border skirmishes and in the ensuing ground operation launched in southern Lebanon in late September. link The IDF says it has arrested three members of the Hezbollah terror group’s elite Radwan force.
The three Radwan members were found in a shaft underneath a building, the IDF says.
The three were interrogated in the field after surrendering and were subsequently transferred to a prison facility in Israel.
The IDF separately publishes a video clip of the interrogation of a Hezbollah operative who claims that Radwan fighters ran away following Israel’s assassination of Hassan Nasrallah.
It’s unclear whether the suspect is one of the three that the IDF said it arrested.
The footage is similar to what the IDF has released from interrogations of Hamas fighters it arrested in Gaza.
Arrests of Hezbollah forces have not been common, even since Israel began ground raids into south Lebanon last month.
"Everyone fled after Nasrallah's assassination": The captured terrorist speaks during interrogation, 3 more from Radwan force captured
The terrorist who was documented coming out of a tunnel shaft and arrested, said that all area commanders fled and spoke about the Radwan force: "They planned to respond to the attack and advance to the Galilee, but after Nasrallah's assassination, no one saw them." Meanwhile, a Golani force captured three terrorists from Radwan who were entrenched in an underground shaft.
Three terrorists from the Radwan force were captured by Golani fighters, and in the first documentation from an interrogation of a Hezbollah terrorist, he is heard saying: "Everyone ran away. After Nasrallah's assassination, no one saw any of them." That terrorist, Wadah Younis, was the first to be captured by the forces since the beginning of the operation in Lebanon.
The fighters located an underground shaft in a structure leading to an area where terrorists operated with a nearby exit shaft. They surrounded the building, investigated the shaft, and located his fortification place. After he surrendered and was arrested, he was interrogated in the field and then brought for further questioning by Unit 504 investigators at a detention facility in Israel.
In his interrogation, he said: "Everyone ran away, all four (the area commander and his deputy), from the beginning they already ran away." About the Radwan force, he said: "They have little faith, people without religion, they joined just to get money, they ran away because they were afraid of the IDF... They planned to respond to the attack, to advance to the Galilee, but after Nasrallah's assassination, no one saw any of them."
Now he's no longer the only Hezbollah prisoner in IDF hands. During the activity of forces from the 13th Battalion of Golani in southern Lebanon, an underground shaft was located inside a building used by Hezbollah. In the surrounded building, three terrorists from the Radwan force were identified fortifying the place, along with many weapons and equipment for long-term stay.

Radwan forces terrorist taken for interrogation in incarceration in Israel
After the terrorists surrendered, they were captured, arrested, and interrogated by field investigators from Unit 504 and then brought to a detention facility for further questioning in Israel. Golani forces continue to operate in the area, locating weapons and destroying Hezbollah infrastructure. Unlike Gaza, 504's intelligence infrastructure in Lebanon is broad and systematic over the years. The activation of agents in Lebanon as a valuable source of intelligence is also reflected in the IDF's activity throughout Lebanon in recent weeks. As in Gaza, in Lebanon there are 504 personnel organically integrated into the fighting units, shoulder to shoulder with the fighters, accompanying and guiding them to various targets and conducting field interrogations. After terrorists are captured, they are transferred to dedicated facilities of the unit where they are interrogated by professional investigators - who focus primarily on extracting information from the terrorists for the continuation of the maneuver. link
Golani troops uncover arms warehouses, tunnels in southern Lebanon
The military releases images and footage of the Golani Brigade’s operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon over the past day.
Troops have killed dozens of Hezbollah terror operatives in the area, and uncovered two warehouses in civilian areas filled with weapons including shells, mortars, cornet missiles and anti-tank guided missiles, according to the military.
Furthermore, troops uncovered four entrances into tunnels hiding weapons and used them as shelters for terrorists, the IDF says.
During the operations, terrorists launched an anti-tank missile at troops and then fled, the military says. The air force then launched a strike targeting the terrorists.

At the funeral of Senior Staff Sergeant Major Adir Kadosh, his partner Edi, who was supposed to marry him next month, eulogized: "You used to tell me - 'I'll die a hero'. Now you're everyone's hero. The ring with your name will never leave me. What will I do now?" Adir's mother promised: "You will be with me, you are my son". His brother, who celebrated his birthday today, said: "You were a hero, and you went as a hero"
The heartbreaking eulogy of the partner of the police officer shot dead in the attack:
Senior Staff Sergeant Major Adir Kadosh, who was promoted posthumously, is now being laid to rest in the military section of the Holon cemetery, in the presence of hundreds of family members and friends. His coffin is being carried to burial on the shoulders of six police officers.
His partner Edi, with whom he was supposed to get married next month, broke down in tears during the eulogy: "My Adir, I have no idea how to begin. Our journey started more than six years ago, we were supposed to continue it on 11/11. You insisted so much on that date. I told you 'it's far off'. We were supposed to get married, start a family, have children we wanted so much. Six years together. You always made sure I didn't lack anything, you always told me 'don't worry, everything is fine'. My family is your family."
"You used to tell me - 'I'll die a hero, I'll shoot whoever I need to in order to be a hero'. So here you are, my Adir - you're not just my hero, but everyone's hero," said the partner after the attack, in which Senior Staff Sergeant Major Kadosh approached a suspect on the side of Highway 4 - who then shot him dead. "The ring on my hand with your name engraved will never leave me in this world. Adir, why did you leave 25 days before our wedding? What will I do now? I promised you children." Adir's mother promised his partner: "You will be with me, you are my son."
The mother, Tali, added, "Adir was my beloved, my life. I can't believe how you left me, how you left us. You are my whole world, you are the air I breathe. You are the heart of my life, the light of my eyes. You were handsome. You were beautiful inside and out. From a young age, your dream was to be a police officer. You excelled, received countless certificates of excellence. You always strived for contact, and in your life and death, you saved so many people."
The police officer's brother, Dor, celebrated his 28th birthday today - which will now become a day of mourning. In his eulogy, he said: "All your life you were a hero - and you'll go as a hero. Even in the coffin, you're smiling. Just watch over everyone, that's what I want. You need a monument, so they'll see your name." link
"A painful loss of a pure soul": Natalie Dadon mourns the late Adir Kadosh
In just about a month, Senior Staff Sergeant Major Adir Kadosh, who was murdered today in a terror attack near Yavneh, was supposed to vow his loyalty to his partner Edi—with Natalie Dadon set to officiate their wedding. Dadon revealed in her Instagram story the moment she found out about the tragedy, stating: "It feels like a nightmare."
"Just a month ago, we sat in the living room": Today (Tuesday), a terrorist arrived at the Yavneh Interchange on Highway 4, opened fire, and injured five people, including Adir Kadosh, who later succumbed to his wounds. Kadosh, 33, from Rishon LeZion, was supposed to marry his partner Edi in about a month, with social media figure and model Natalie Dadon slated to officiate the ceremony.
In a post on her Instagram account, Dadon shared the conversation she had with Kadosh's partner, Edi, who informed her about the tragic event. "Maybe the words will come later, for now, I’m waiting for someone to tell me it’s a mistake, that it’s not Adir—actually, that it’s no one," she wrote alongside photos of the couple and their wedding invitation, which, unfortunately, will no longer take place. "Just less than a month ago, we sat in the living room, writing points for the vows," she continued. "I was supposed to unite you in a special and emotional ceremony, how much we waited for it, how excited I was with you. We even debated who would walk down the aisle first and what message was most important to convey during these times. I'm so connected to your souls. Please, no. Edi, tell me it’s nothing, November 11th is approaching—just answer already."
Dadon shared: "He once told me he really wanted to design a dress for me, and since we met and he showed me his designs, we became close. We became friends, and for every important event I have, I turn to him, and he designs dresses for me with enthusiasm. When he reached out and said they wanted me to officiate their wedding ceremony, I was excited and couldn’t believe the honor I had been given. He told me how committed Adir was to his work in the police, and we often laughed about how we couldn’t meet up because of the endless shifts Adir insisted on taking. About a month ago, we finally met to plan the ceremony together. We sat, got excited, talked through all the details, and I was supposed to lead the wedding ceremony they had planned. But now, that ceremony will never happen. It feels like a nightmare—it’s still hard to process how moments of great joy suddenly turned into the painful loss of a pure soul like Adir."

Politics and the War (general news)
- Housing Minister Goldknopf on the surge in housing prices: "It's not our responsibility, ask the Bank of Israel or the Treasury"
The Chairman of United Torah Judaism is distancing himself from responsibility for dealing with the housing crisis, claiming that the ultra-Orthodox community enlists in the army just like the general public. "We need to both study Torah and enlist, you can't place everything on us," Goldknopf said in an interview with *Makor Rishon*. On advancing a law exempting young ultra-Orthodox men from the draft, despite the shortage of combat soldiers in the IDF, he remarked: "Let the Ministry of Information explain it."
Housing and Construction Minister and United Torah Judaism Chairman Yitzhak Goldknopf distanced himself from responsibility for the skyrocketing housing prices, stating that the ultra-Orthodox community enlists just like the general public. In an interview with *Makor Rishon*, Goldknopf said about the rise in housing prices: "It's not because of us; you need to ask the Bank of Israel or the Treasury. If housing prices are going up, it's not our fault." According to Goldknopf, it is not possible to build more housing than is currently being constructed due to the shortage of foreign workers. However, he added that "if there was such a severe shortage of workers as you claim, people wouldn’t be paying for the tenders [for land for building homes]."
When asked about the government's steps to address the foreign worker shortage, he responded that about 20,000 foreign workers were brought from India and Sri Lanka. He also expressed opposition to allowing Palestinian workers, stating: "I am fighting with Netanyahu to prevent Palestinian workers from entering the country; it endangers lives." Security officials, on the other hand, advocate for allowing entry to Palestinian workers who have been pre-screened and do not pose a security threat. Meanwhile, the construction sector claims that the quality of work by the foreign workers brought in since the outbreak of the war is significantly lower compared to that of the Palestinian workers.
**"We won’t stay in the government without a draft law"**
In the interview, Goldknopf reiterated the threat made last week by his associates, stating, "Without a doubt, the draft law will pass before the budget is approved in the government. If it doesn’t happen, we won’t remain in the government. We were deceived. We won’t stay in the government without a draft law, while we are treated as defectors and excluded from everything."
On advancing the law exempting young ultra-Orthodox men from the draft at a time when the IDF faces a shortage of combat soldiers, Goldknopf said: "Let the Ministry of Information explain that. I need the draft law. Let them draft those ultra-Orthodox who aren’t studying. This law doesn’t create divisions; it unites the people of Israel. Everyone is responsible for one another: one studies and one serves." He added, "Those who aren’t enlisted and are working—let them be drafted. It’s not our issue. We will introduce a draft law that’s no different from what was proposed here before, and our law won’t protect those who aren’t studying Torah."
According to Goldknopf, "We enlist proportionally, just like the general public. Keep in mind, we need to both study Torah and enlist; you can’t place all the burden on us."
**"Netanyahu's trial should not be happening now"**
Goldknopf also called for a halt to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s trial, in which Netanyahu is expected to testify soon: "The trial they’re holding for Netanyahu should not be happening right now. As a country, we need to ensure the prime minister is free to lead the nation."
The United Torah Judaism chairman also commented on the potential resettlement of the Gaza Strip, saying: "If the government decides to return to parts of Gush Katif, I would support it. I think maybe settlement in Gaza would bring security, but I don’t know enough about it. If the government decides that returning to Gush Katif would protect the communities in the Gaza border area, would I oppose it? What was done in Gush Katif was an injustice—they tore people away from their homes." link There are truly multiple Israels. The Israel of Goldknopt is an Israel where the Haredim's only job is to study torah and is upon the rest of the population to support them to do it. They don't have any responsibility or obligation to serve in the army as their studies protect us more. They don't have responsibility or blame for the things they and their ministries are responsible for. The problems have nothing to do with them. That's a page right out of Netanyahu's book. I say once again, if they are our great protectors and we don't need them in the army, or don't even need an army because their learning protects us, let's move all the Yeshivot and the minister's houses to the southern and northern borders. Their prayers will prevent both Hamas and Hizbollah from crossing the borders and massacring all the people. Oh wait, weren't they praying on October 6? After all, it was a holy day and their prayers were extra important and strong. Well, whoever was praying on October 6 should never be allowed to pray again because they failed in their only jobs, to pray which will protect the Jewish people. Their claim, of course is that if they weren't praying, more people would have been killed. Such utter hypocrosy. And Netanyahu not only allows it to go on, he is looking for ways to make sure they stay in his government so he can stay prime ministers. SHAME!!!!

- "18 out of 19 of Netanyahu's staff are liars": Biden's new quotes and the growing distrust
Concerns within the U.S. administration, disagreements over Iran, and negotiations for hostage releases. In an interview with *The Washington Post*, journalist Bob Woodward revealed further details about the strained relations between President Biden and Prime Minister Netanyahu. "Biden understands that Israel and the U.S. are allies and sticks to that, but his distrust of Netanyahu couldn't be greater." In another interview, he claimed: "Every move to release hostages was driven by the U.S. — there was no movement from Israel."
With the release of his new book, *War*, renowned journalist Bob Woodward unveils new details about the troubled relationship between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Joe Biden. In a conversation with *The Washington Post*, he elaborated on the "complete lack of trust" and tension between the two leaders, even recounting that Biden told his close aides, "18 out of 19 people who work for Netanyahu are liars." The book, released on Tuesday, describes the relationship between the two as a "roller coaster." In a virtual conversation with the *Post*, Woodward emphasized that Biden recognizes the reality that Israel and the U.S. are allies and remains committed to that, but his concern about Netanyahu could not be more severe.
In previously reported quotes, Biden referred to Netanyahu as a "f***ing liar." "Biden has said this publicly, not just in private conversations, and telling his closest aides that this man is a liar shows an extremely severe lack of trust," Woodward told the *Post*. "At the same time, Israel and the U.S. need each other, but this broken relationship and lack of trust between the leaders is concerning, especially with everything happening now. What we need is a deeper relationship of trust."
According to Woodward, Vice President Kamala Harris was the one who told Biden to say the phrase "Take the win" during his conversation with Netanyahu following the Iranian attack in April. Woodward explained that Harris was present during the conversation, and "Biden asked her — 'What should we do? What do you think?' She gave him the phrase, and Biden passed it on to Netanyahu directly from her." In his book, Woodward explains that Harris asks tough questions in the situation room. "In phone calls with Netanyahu, she plays the bad cop and asks him about civilian casualties in Gaza. However, there are no substantial disagreements between her and Biden," he noted.
In another interview with MSNBC, Woodward revealed that the book *War* outlines how every move to release hostages was led by Biden, saying, "There was no movement from Israel." He also stated that Netanyahu initially told the Americans at the start of the war, "Not a drop, not a gram of anything will enter Gaza to help the people." This, according to Woodward, was Netanyahu's starting point, and the president and vice president had to convince him otherwise. "They told him, 'You're going to create a humanitarian disaster.' Biden and Harris are constantly concerned about a humanitarian disaster, and initially, Netanyahu did not take this seriously, at least in the early stages. But eventually, he adjusted."
The famous journalist also criticized Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, arguing that he is incapable of working in a team and is a danger to the country. Additionally, he referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as the "modern-day equivalent of Hitler" and claimed that "his invasion of Ukraine is analogous to Nazi Germany's invasion — it’s for Putin’s own benefit alone. He is a threat to the world. He is a sadist."
The book also reveals internal conversations between the White House and Arab states, as well as their unofficial stance toward Hamas. "We won't say it," King Abdullah of Jordan is quoted as saying in a conversation with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, "but we support Hamas being defeated, and Israel needs to defeat Hamas."
In quotes revealed last week, Biden was quoted from a conversation with his advisors during the war, saying: "That son of a b****, Bibi Netanyahu. He’s a bad guy, he’s just a bad guy!" In the book, Woodward returns to a conversation between Biden and Netanyahu before entering Rafah. "What’s your strategy, man?" the U.S. president asked the prime minister, who reportedly responded, "We need to go into Rafah." Biden's response: "Bibi, you don’t have a strategy."
Woodward describes that in April, when the U.S. helped defend against the Iranian missile attack, along with other allies like Saudi Arabia and Jordan (according to CNN), Netanyahu sought to respond to Iran, but Biden managed to "hold him back" and lead to a limited Israeli response. According to the book, Biden told Netanyahu: "You don’t need to take any further steps. Don’t do anything." In the end, Israel did respond in a focused and limited manner, reportedly targeting the radar of an advanced air defense battery protecting the Natanz nuclear facility.
"I know he's going to do something, but the way I limit him is by telling him 'Don’t do anything,'" Biden reportedly told his advisors, according to the book. When Israel eliminated Fuad Shukr, considered Hezbollah’s "chief of staff," Biden angrily called Netanyahu: "Bibi, what the hell?" he exclaimed. "You know Israel is increasingly seen around the world as a rogue state, as a rogue actor." Netanyahu, according to the book, responded: "He was one of the leading terrorists. There was an opportunity, and we seized it. The harder you hit, the more successful you’ll be in negotiations." link
- "Preparing for settlement in Gaza": The invitation sent by May Golan to Likud members and ministers
In the invitation, signed by the minister and other members of Knesset, Likud members and ministers were called to participate in a tour of Kibbutz Nirim. The agenda includes: "Speakers, ministers, and MKs on the settlement of the land and current events." Members of Kibbutz Nirim, located near the Gaza border, were outraged: "The tour was not coordinated with us, and therefore it will not take place. Instead of focusing on political gatherings for establishing settlement nuclei, the government should focus on bringing back the hostages."
An invitation from Likud was sent today (Wednesday) to party members, Knesset members, and ministers under the title "Preparing for settlement in Gaza along with settlement nuclei" — for a tour at Kibbutz Nirim, located near Gaza.
The invitation, signed by Minister May Golan and other party MKs, stated: "A year after the riots, we will all stand together — Likud members, branch leaders, ministers, and MKs — and declare together: Gaza is ours. Forever." Among the participating MKs: Tali Gottlieb, Nissim Vaturi, Hanoch Milvitzky, and Osher Shkalim. Ministers Bezalel Smotrich, Yitzhak Wasserlauf, and Amichai Eliyahu are also expected to attend.
Nirim addressed the planned event, set for this upcoming Monday at the kibbutz, and announced it would not take place: "In the past few hours, we received an invitation distributed by Likud members to hold a tour of the kibbutz with the security officer, as part of a conference for settlement in Gaza during the holiday. The tour was not coordinated with Nirim, and according to Daniel, the security officer, it was not coordinated with him either and is not endorsed by us. Therefore, it will not take place."
"We are still waiting for the government and coalition members to take responsibility for the enormous failure and abandonment during the events of October 7 and the bleeding wound in our hearts. Instead of engaging in political conferences for the establishment of settlement nuclei, it would be better if the government and coalition members focused on bringing back the 101 hostages and supporting the reconstruction of border communities."
Chairman of the National Unity Party, Benny Gantz, criticized Netanyahu and the conference participants for allowing military exemptions for the ultra-Orthodox: "Enough hypocrisy. Netanyahu himself has already said he does not intend to allow settlement in Gaza." Gantz added, "Whoever supports settlement in the Gaza Strip — first raise your hand in favor of a service plan that will enable the IDF to have the manpower it needs for its missions, and only then organize conferences."
"Who exactly will ensure security? Those who have been collapsing under the burden for more than a year in reserve duty? Or the regular soldiers whose service is being repeatedly extended?" Gantz wrote in his statement.
MK Naama Lazimi from the Labor Party also condemned Likud's initiative, writing: "When we said that this entire government, including Likud and the ultra-Orthodox parties, is sacrificing the hostages to promote their messianic and insane vision of conquering Gaza and sinking into the Gaza quagmire, they told us we were exaggerating."
"Our 'miracle' government is issuing an invitation full of empty words. They could have just written — 'The booth of abandonment and sacrifice,'" wrote the MK. link Yes, this is what Netanyahu's government is most concerned about: settlement and taking over more territory. They don't care about the hostages, they don't care about ahving any strategy for the war, especially not an exit strategy, they don't care about the disasterous economy, they don't care about soldiers dying every day and the need for larger enlistments among the Haredim, they don't care that high tech is leaving Israel and no one wants to invest here, they don't care that no tourists are coming to Israel, they don't care that most of the airlines won't fly to Israel, they don't care about anything that has any connection to governing. They only care about their messianic ideology which includes settlement everywhere on stolen and occupied lands and of giving as much money to the Haredim as possible. That is our government.
The Region and the World
The US and Canada announce that they are jointly sanctioning the anti-Israel Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network.
The State Department describes Samidoun as “a sham charity that serves as an international fundraiser for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist organization.”
“The PFLP uses Samidoun to maintain fundraising operations in both Europe and North America. We are also designating Khaled Barakat, a member of the PFLP’s leadership,” the State Department announcement adds.
Personal Stories "For three and a half hours, I blocked the holes in my chest with my thumbs."
The injury on October 7th, the trauma his children experienced watching him undergo resuscitation in the hospital, the slow and frustrating recovery, and the life motto he has adopted—Yaron Chamias, a father of three from Kibbutz Kfar Aza, was one of the participants in the 'From Story to Storytelling' course by the 'Equal in Employment' project. Now, he shares the year he went through, "A year that started with a huge challenge, continued with a major personal struggle, and ends with immense hope."
Yaron Chamias recounts: “I’m Yaron Chamias, father of three children, and this is the year I’ve had. On October 7th, at 7 a.m., my ex-wife, Einat, sent me a message saying there were terrorists in Kfar Aza, our kibbutz, and wrote: ‘Don’t come.’ At that time, I was on my way to Be’er Sheva, and I immediately turned around. I’ve been involved in security services my whole life, and I know the Gaza Strip like the back of my hand. At that point, I had no weapon, but I headed towards the kibbutz. As I approached, a lone police officer stopped me at a checkpoint. He wouldn’t let me through, but I said, ‘I can help you.’ He agreed, gave me a yellow vest, and I continued.
On the way, I began seeing people injured from the Nova festival. The policeman, a paramedic, and I quickly evacuated them to Soroka Hospital. The officer gave me a weapon, and I joined Lieutenant Colonel Elad and Noam from Kibbutz Sa’ad. Together, we headed to the kibbutz. At the entrance to Kfar Aza, we joined two other officers, Keter and Harel, and entered with four handguns and one M-16.
At 9:30, we were in Kfar Aza. Einat messaged me that there were terrorists on the roof of our house, where they had set up a position. From that point, I remember nothing except the bullets that tore through my chest. Later, thanks to a helmet camera worn by someone on the ground, I saw the tough hours of fighting.
I fell and had difficulty breathing. For three and a half hours, I blocked the holes in my chest with my thumbs. At some point, I was shot in the thumb, and it fell away, but I kept pressing. I’ve seen a lot in life, and I knew this was a serious injury. I also knew that if I fell asleep, there’d be no saving me. After hours of tension, a Duvdevan Unit force rescued me. The soldiers, Major Or Yosef (Orosh) Ran and Sergeant Yosef Malachi Gdalia, loaded me into a civilian Skoda and took me away. A few days later, I found out those same men who saved me were killed ten minutes after.
A few days later, I woke up in the hospital, listed in critical condition. That’s where my year began—a year that changed everything. Intensive care, lung department, rehabilitation at ‘Bishvilim Plus’ in the Ichilov Medical Center—I only finished my day hospital treatment there last week, after 10 months. Today, I’m continuing the rehabilitation process at Beit Halochem.
My daughter told me they came into the hospital room when I was unconscious, and the doctors were performing CPR on me with a defibrillator, shouting ‘Clear,’ just like in the movies. My children, who were in Kfar Aza, were only rescued a day later. They spent 22 hours in the bomb shelter, not knowing their fate. When they came to see me in the hospital, they would go to their friends' funerals and then return to my room.
I was a fighter most of my life. I served in combat units along the Gaza border. I retired from service a few years ago and worked as a security consultant in various countries. Maybe that’s why it was harder for me. I never imagined I’d be in such a weakened state. At first, during the rehabilitation, I didn’t grasp the severity of my condition. I would get frustrated when I couldn’t walk more than 20 meters. There are embarrassing moments during hospitalization, like when they bathe you or when you’re hooked up to tubes. It felt like a rollercoaster, filled with optimism, setbacks, and complications.
This year, I learned that the work is with myself: to be able to walk a little further, to climb another flight of stairs, to work on rehabilitation. I learned that even small changes are still changes. Progress takes time. I believe humor is an important quality in recovery, and I understand more than ever the need for both physical and emotional healing.
During my rehabilitation, I was introduced to the ‘Equal in Employment’ project, an initiative by Mifal HaPais and the Shavim website, in collaboration with Ichilov Medical Center, Cisco Israel, the Yedioth Ahronoth Group, and the Rashi Foundation. I decided to enroll in the 'From Story to Storytelling' course offered through the project. I don’t have Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok. My ex-wife used to be called ‘the contact person for the man with no contact.’ But this year, I realized I have something to say—it’s burning inside me. I wanted to learn how to do it professionally. At first, I was nervous. There were assignments, feedback, and tests, but more than anything, I met amazing people and learned the importance of each media platform and how to influence and convey messages effectively.
For me, working and doing something is critical to the recovery process. It helped me figure out how to tell what I’ve been through—where I came from and where I am now. It was a year that started with a big challenge, continued with a personal battle, and ends with enormous hope. This year taught me to enjoy the small moments in life and to put many things into perspective. Throughout this past year, with the long recovery, my motto was: ‘I feel better than yesterday.’ I believe I’ll carry this motto forward in life.
Every day, I strive to be better than the day before, to do better, to grow. Luckily, I’m alive, and my children are okay, but we still have five hostages from Kibbutz Kfar Aza, and until they come home, this story won’t be over. I wish for health and to return to Kfar Aza with a stronger community, with a new generation of lions.”

My name should have been Yonatan. Yoni.
How did I become Yossi? To make a long story short:
In July 1976, my parents already had three daughters and one son. My
mother was six months pregnant, and I was growing happily in her
womb. My mother had made Aliyah and moved to Israel a decade
earlier, in 1967, after the heroic victory of the State of Israel in the Six
Days War. She traded all the fortune and prosperity of 1960s America for
the rebuilding and expanding of Jerusalem in the late 1960s. My father,
in turn, had traded London and a guaranteed academic career in the
most prestigious institutions for Jerusalem’s soil. We were raised on
symbols. Everything had a symbolic meaning. I grew up embraced by,
and immersed in, Zionist symbolism.
The names of the streets around us were part of the narrative. We grew
up on the corner of Kovshei Katamon (conquerors of the Katamon
neighborhood) and Palmach (the elite strike forces of the Jewish underground army during the British Mandate in Palestine) Streets.
Within a three-minute walk from our house, on HaPortzim (the
Trailblazers) Street, lived the Netanyahu family. Why Yonatan, you
ask? Like many in Israel, the sense of national pride and the deep
conviction of justice had never been stronger and more present than in
the unforgettable moments following the heroic operation by an elite
unit of the Israel Defense Forces, which rescued 105 Israeli passengers
and Air France crew members who were hijacked by German and
Palestinian terrorists during their flight from Israel to France.
Despite the fact that the terrorists hijacked the aircraft to a hostile
country, almost all the hostages were rescued unharmed. Four were
killed during the operation: Three hostages, and the commander of
the elite unit, Lt. Col. Yonatan Netanyahu (after whom the operation is
named), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s older brother. My parents
wanted to name me after Yonatan Netanyahu.
When paying tribute to his father at his funeral, Bibi said: “You always
told me that a necessary condition for the existence of any living body,
and a nation is a living body, is the ability to recognize the early signs
of danger, a quality that our people in exile lost...” Benjamin Netanyahu,
after October 7th, we know it was you who failed to recognize the early
signs of danger. You have made us all return to the insecurities of living
in exile. Existential fear just for being Jewish, as we experience today,
has not been felt since the darkest days in Europe. In my opinion, you
are responsible for that reawakened existential fear of all the Jews in
the world, as the leader of the Jewish state.
There will be no great intersections named after you. There will be no
schools or hospitals commemorating your governmental actions. In the
historical memory of the Zionist enterprise, as well as in the collective memory of the Jewish people, your memory will always contrast with
the glorified memory of your heroic brother, who sacrificed his life for
the redemption of hostages.
And why is my name Yossi after all? I was eventually named after the
only son of my father's aunt (his mother’s sister), the late Tzaddika Chaya
Shor. Her son Yosel gave his life for the redemption of Israel’s soil.
