🎗️Day 617 that 53 of our hostages are still in Hamas captivity🎗️

**There is nothing more important than getting them home! NOTHING!**

    “I’ve never met them,
    But I miss them.
    I’ve never met them,
but I think of them every second.
    I’ve never met them,
    but they are my family.
    BRING THEM HOME NOW!!!”
We’re waiting for you, all of you.
A deal is the only way to bring
all the hostages home- the murdered for burial and the living for rehabilitation.

    #BringThemHomeNow #TurnTheHorrorIntoHope

There is no victory until all of the hostages are home!
‎אין נצחון עד שכל החטופים בבית

The following is a twitter post that says everything I agree with in regards to this war on Iran and the most dangerous prime minister in the history of Israel

Today more than ever. More than the 6 years I've been in this public struggle. I've understood how it succeeds for him.
Sometimes you see it unfolding before your eyes. Almost in slow motion.
Not because of the psychopath dragging us toward the abyss. Because of the response in Israel.
The crowd cheers for this madman. Cheers while hundreds of rockets are fired at us. At our children.
Cheers while they stand in front of charred buildings.
He's managed to convince people who seem normal that "there's no choice" as he once again pulls out the same card.
He stands with a match in one hand and a barrel of fuel in the other, and they cheer. Both the center and even some of his opponents.
Defeated, submissive, groveling. Facing this cancer that deceives everyone here with the same trick, over and over and over again.
And what short memories they have. And so much violence. And the justification of violence.
Erection. Doesn’t go down. Let them see what’s coming. As if the Muslim world is afraid of something. As if the Iranians care.
People around me who oppose him, who know who he is, who have seen time and again what he’s capable of. What manipulations, and how every time—every single time—when the walls close in on him, when his mandates collapse, when the government threatens to dissolve, when his trial advances…
He pulls out the war card.
Every single time, and every single time, it works.
He manages to make everyone forget the hostages rotting in tunnels. The soldiers being sacrificed. The images from Gaza. The cost of living, the taxes.
The fact that he never stops attacking the army and the state’s institutions, only to use them on judgment day and take credit.
This man. This devil, manages to flatten nearly everyone here, back to square one.
They play polite games with him.
Devoid of conscience, morality. Not human lives, not children, nothing.
Only him and preserving his seat.
May God help us, because right now, the devil is killing us.

MAY THEIR MEMORIES BE A REVOLUTION!

Yisrael Aloni, 73, is named as one of three people killed in massive barrages of Iranian ballistic missile fire last night and early this morning.

Aloni was killed in a barrage on the central city of Rishon Lezion.

Another person was killed in the same barrage, while the third died as a result of an earlier wave of projectiles.

In addition to the three people killed, some 70 people were wounded by the approximately 200 ballistic missiles fired from Iran.

Most of the missiles were intercepted by air defenses. The military said that around 25%, less than 50, were not intercepted “according to protocol,” meaning they were left to strike open areas without causing damage to any critical infrastructure.

A “small number” of missiles made it through air defenses, the IDF said, including in residential areas in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and Rishon Lezion in central Israel.

    Hostage Updates
      Until the last hostage

  • The funeral of Yair Yaakov, the hostage who was killed in Hamas captivity on October 7 and his body was rescued 2 days ago, is postponed due to the emergency situation that the country is in which is preventing people from arriving to Nir Oz, especially family coming from overseas.

  • From Einav Tzenguaker, the amazing woman and mother of Matan Tzengauker who is still being held in Hamas captivity for 617 days while the narcissistic, megalomaniac, self serving Netanyahu has pulled us into another war that he calls 'the war of no choice' where, in fact, it is the continuation of the "War of Netanyahu's Political Survival"

Mothers and fathers from across the country call me, asking about my well-being and the safety of Natalie and Shani.
    *"Are you okay?"*
*"Do you have everything you need?"*
Like me, all of Israel is following the **Home Front Command's instructions—they save lives.**
I'm in the safe room with my girls, but **my Matan is not here.**
**My Matan, our Matan, is being held alive in Hamas captivity.**
Somewhere in Gaza, dozens of meters underground, in a dark tunnel, **Matan is alone—sick, trembling, terrified, worried—but not giving up.**
    He fights his loneliness,
    He fights his illness,
    He fights his fears,
    **Holding onto hope.**
Hope that he will return home alive,
Hope that he will embrace his beloved Ilana again,
Hope that he will be able to shout at the top of his lungs: *"Mom, I'm home!!"*
And I... I admit that hope is slowly slipping away from me with each passing day.
But thanks to the **heart, faith, and hope** of our strong nation, I am beginning to see **the light at the end of the tunnel.**

  • Eli Elbag reveals the new life of Liri since she was released: “Devouring the world”

Hostage survivor Liri Elbag was delayed over the weekend for questioning by the American immigration service immediately upon her landing in New York, after her status in the systems alerted that she was still in captivity and there arose a suspicion that someone was impersonating her. In an interview, her father addressed the unusual incident – and the new life since she reunited with her family: “It’s hard for us to let go, but there’s no choice.”

Hostage survivor Liri Elbag, who was released about four months ago from Hamas captivity, was detained at JFK Airport in New York last weekend for questioning when she arrived for a vacation with her friends. Upon her landing, the American immigration service informed her that there was a problem with her status in the systems – and that she was still registered as a hostage. As a result, the suspicion arose that someone was impersonating her. The questioning of Liri lasted about an hour, and with the assistance of the professional team from the Israeli consulate in New York, she was released.

In an interview with Niv Raskin on “Morning News,” her father Eli addressed the incident and life since her release. “There’s no normality, we haven’t really returned to ourselves. We were in a hell that we have to recover from, even if we’re abroad,” he said. “Liri was missing for so long, and suddenly when she doesn’t answer the phone for two hours, we realized she’s not okay. We knew that this time at least she was in the hands of the U.S. authorities and not Hamas. There are families whose loved one has been in the hands of Hamas for 600 days.”

You were on vacation in Thailand, in New York, Liri decided she’s devouring life. Is it hard to let go?

“We’re not letting go, sometimes we have no choice. She wants to devour the world, Shira and I went out to have fun with her. I told her, ‘If they hadn’t kidnapped her – this wouldn’t have happened for us.’ We’re not willing to let her go, but she has to live for her soul. She’s traveling the world.”

In the background, Elbag also addressed the prime minister’s remarks last night that sparked an uproar, in which he said he hopes there will be “something to announce on the hostage matter – if not today, then tomorrow.” “It’s a painful statement from the prime minister. People started rejoicing in the hostage families’ group and very quickly understood that it was just empty words with no meaning. I have to tell something – not only did it harm the families, one of the people in the families tried to do something to himself. It’s hard to say, those who understand will understand – people simply don’t understand the impact of such a statement,” he claimed. “A statement like that brings people to the most abnormal state possible. It makes it harder for them every day, every word or statement kills. The families have no strength left, something has to happen. One has to say ‘enough.’”

And what is your opinion about the explanation the prime minister gave afterward?

“The families want to cling to any sliver of information, even the smallest. When it comes out of the prime minister’s mouth, it gives hope, and very quickly it crushed them to the ground. One must understand that enough is enough, only the prime minister can bring the hostages back – and it’s possible.”

As someone who led the struggle, where do you think the whole thing is heading?

“It must go to a deal, the prime minister has domestic pressure that his government will fall apart. This is a big problem for the prime minister, for the hostage families who are not receiving their loved ones. I hope the prime minister will make a brave decision, this cannot continue endlessly. He knows we will have to fight Hamas all our lives.”  link

  • The hostages are not even being talked about now. This is also part of Netanyahu's continuous plan of diversion.

  •   "Avintan underground without exposure to air, 1.97m in a 1.70m tunnel"
Ditza Or has been waiting hundreds of days and nights for the most important news of all - that her son Avintan, kidnapped from the Nova festival, will return to her arms. In an interview with N12 magazine, she speaks about the struggle to free him ("we try to maintain moral standards"), the meeting with the minister that sparked anger ("there was no substantive discussion") - and her live broadcast proposal that caused an uproar: "I received very violent reactions"
At the start of our meeting, Ditza Or wants to share what life looks like these days - for over 600 days now - for the mother of a hostage. "I only live in the present moment. The past is dead. The future? Who even knows what will be. I live completely in this moment," shares Or. "It's happened several times that I tell someone, say, 'that was about a year and a half ago,' and then I realize I actually mean a year and a half before the war started. Really, since Avintan was kidnapped it's been one day. Time doesn't move, time stands still, the date doesn't change and the hours don't pass - I do things, but it's all one unit. It's very, very hard for me to know what happened when. I forget things hysterically."
"Basically, until Simchat Torah 5784 (2023) I was Ditza Or. Since Simchat Torah I'm only Avintan's mother. That means I haven't returned to work, where I taught Jewish psychology at counseling and therapy colleges. And as a mother - Avintan is the second of seven children, may they be healthy - so my motherhood is at minimum. As a grandmother, even less than minimum. May they be healthy, there are nine grandchildren. Other things - like hobbies, friendships, matters - that's really at zero. Always eyes on the ball, only making 24/7 efforts to bring Avintan back."

"It's a constant battle not to fall into the abyss." Ditza Or, mother of hostage Avintan

Hostage Avintan Or and his family

"It's a constant battle not to fall into the abyss. Like in nature, anything you hold up high requires you to exert force. If you stop applying force, it immediately drops down. The same with the soul - to keep it at a high frequency of courage, hope, faith, love, creativity and initiative, you must constantly exercise the muscle of choice. Because otherwise, the crash and abyss are here. They're available, always beside me, and the moment I let go I'm immediately in hatred, fear, insane and endless sorrow. The time this is most present is in the morning when I wake up. In that relaxation of sleep everything is open and the abyss surfaces. And I start every morning crying, it's the first thing I do. I give it about two hours. I cry, pray and drink coffee. Then I also give thanks for many amazing and good things in my life, slowly collect myself, and then go out to the world."

  "I don't know what he's going through"
Avintan Or, one of the very few hostages from whom no filmed proof of life has been received, is already 32. In February his second birthday in captivity was marked. Or, who in recent years before his kidnapping lived in Tel Aviv working as an engineer at global chip developer Nvidia, was born and raised in the Shilo settlement in Benjamin region, with six siblings. Previously he lived in Be'er Sheva, where he studied electrical and computer engineering at Ben-Gurion University, graduating with honors.

There he also met Noa Argamani, a city native who studied with him. The two, who lived together those two years, were also kidnapped together that cursed morning. Documentation of their kidnapping from the Nova festival near Kibbutz Re'im, being transported on a motorcycle by the Gazan mob that stormed the party, was among the first published, already that morning.

"Although Avintan is my second son, he has a firstborn's character," says Or. "He was always the one who would come and fix things at home when needed. If we needed to build a sukkah, store things in the attic or deal with a clogged drain - it was him. He called every Friday before Shabbat, such a sweet conversation of warmth and closeness. And this is one of the things I miss very, very much. A firstborn character - it's not just toward family. Everywhere he's such a rock. People feel safe near him. After the kidnapping, when we understood the dry facts, we wished for all hostages that they'd be with him. He surely takes care of them and arranges things to be as good as possible. He's also extremely funny. Although he doesn't talk much, not a noisy type, but he's hilariously funny, when he drops a sentence everyone's on the floor."
What do you know about the conditions he's held in?
"We can say he's been underground for many hundreds of days. Without any exposure to open air, without daylight. The tallest tunnels are 170cm high, and Avintan is 197cm. You can understand what that does, all these parameters together. But beyond that, I don't know what he's going through, what they've done to him, what he eats and what they've tried to extract from him. I know nothing."

"Cruel hunger games between hostage families"
The second deal, that of January-February this year, brought much new information about the 55 hostages still held there. For some families it brought relief, for others it plunged them deeper into anguish, and many it motivated to further action. Yet even after all this flood of information, as Ditza confirms, the Or family remains one knowing relatively very little about Avintan's current condition.
"We're not trying to enter this race of proving my son is the most humanitarian, the most pitiable, or to publicize various medical reports. These are too cruel hunger games they're dragging families into. We try to maintain moral standards where we don't harm others or propose various frameworks and plans that recently surfaced in media, initiatives by certain families promoting their children while harming others' children and worsening others' chances of getting out. We won't enter that game."
"Here enters a new layer of depth in terms of faith," adds Or. "We're believers. Everything we encounter in life - it's all guided, all happens through divine providence by the Creator. Our mission is twofold: to behave most effectively, wisely and consciously in the plane of natural, visible reality, but also to constantly remember there's a purpose to life, there are moral demands of us and we have a spiritual and moral development path going through all life's trials."
And that Avintan has been there over 600 days - that too is divine providence?
"Of course. How could it not be? Something so dramatic, could it happen by chance?" says Or but emphasizes: "It challenges faith. Actually, it challenges me, not faith. What do I mean? We all live in post-Holocaust generations. We already know what it is to believe, despite the world confronting us with the most terrible things unimaginable. And we still believe. So there's no new faith or theology in Avintan's reality. There's my challenge to expand my existential experience to contain this without rebelling against faith and breaking down."
Do you find yourself wondering "what does this say about me if God brought me to this state"?
"There's certainly divine speech here. God constantly speaks to us, everything that happens is speech, messages, communication. To understand the difficulty, suffering and pain - perhaps what you're hinting at - the simplest, most basic explanation is reward and punishment. 'Things are bad for you, means you're not okay.' But I'm not there, my God isn't there. That's not my faith. My God is absolute good. And everything I encounter that's experienced as suffering isn't punishment but growth challenging me to develop and expand, refining my understanding. What's it like? I'll give a gym analogy. You see someone working out, sweating, red and panting, and you think 'wow, how cruel of whoever brought him to this,' but actually he chose to enter it. The trainer, see him standing nearby adding half a kilo each time, then two kilos - seemingly maybe cruel too, but this develops him, builds his muscle."

Anger at Minister Dermer: "Don't use us"
In April, Or, her husband Yaron and Tzvi Mor (father of hostage Eitan Mor) met with Minister Ron Dermer, heading the hostage negotiation team. The three, members of the "Hope" forum of hostage families identified as government-supporting and sparing in public criticism of negotiation management, left the meeting "furious, humiliated, confused and exhausted" - as they wrote Dermer in a public letter sent the next day, a letter that made waves in media. They further wrote: "You poured heaps of details on us that we have no interest in and no chance of remembering, especially given our very unstable mental state." They claimed Dermer presented no operational proposal for the hostages' return, and when asked for a time estimate he replied "three to six months, but without an action plan."
You left there very angry. Why?
"There was no way to know which direction negotiations were heading, and that's exactly what angered us. There was no substantive discussion, no opening of issues, no depth. The talk was superficial, long, futile and aimless. It's filibustering, just buying time. We understood nothing, simply nothing. We also hardly had a chance to ask questions. We three talked afterward, and we're not stupid people, but none could understand what we got from that meeting."
"I'll give another example. A debate started then whether there were 21 or 24 living hostages. Someone asked me what Dermer told us about it. But honestly, I don't remember. I told him to ask Tzvi, then he told me, 'I asked Tzvi, he didn't remember either, and told me to ask Ditza.' You see? Something so deep and fundamental, the most important thing, and we couldn't recall from all the babble what he even told us about it. So we wrote him a letter not to do this to us again, nor to other parents. Don't waste our time and don't use us."

Avintan Or, hostage in Gaza
Held in harsh conditions in captivity for over 600 days and nights. Avintan Or

As a citizen, not as Avintan's mother, what do you conclude from such a thing?
"It doesn't surprise me. And it really angered me in that moment. But truthfully, we've had many meetings with various officials - in the political or military system, also with foreign statesmen. From the start I didn't expect much from these meetings, because clearly they don't hear us. They have such a broad spectrum of considerations, information and goals, and we're some tiny link in this story that doesn't really make a difference. They don't hear us, and even when we come and listen, clearly what they tell us is very planned and precise, very calculated. So there's really no honest or open conversation."
"I've minimized such meetings, mostly attending only when summoned. Well, it's a kind of curiosity, and perhaps still, you know. We don't really know what will help and what won't, so maybe worth giving it a chance. But truly-truly I don't believe it's any meeting of value and meaning, so I wasn't bowled over by what happened with Dermer. It just angered me at the immediate level of how one does such a thing, but that's politics."
And in these meetings Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told you Hamas determines which hostage lists are released.
"Correct. Both Dermer and Witkow (Steve, Trump administration's special Mideast envoy) say similar things. To my ears. I don't believe them it's true, but I can understand. Because when he says this he shakes off all the insane pressure on him, including from families. It drives the system crazy, tricks everyone, and everyone's on him and those few supposed to decide. So easiest to say 'it's not us.'"

"Hamas kidnapped to break our spirit"

What was your impression of Witkow?
"That he's a warm, kind-hearted person. He has very good goals and is very invested and devoted. In my sense Biden constantly undermined, for example by forcing Netanyahu to introduce humanitarian aid initially. Biden ensured we wouldn't succeed, neither in fighting nor hostage release, and indeed we succeeded at neither fighting nor hostage release. He withheld ammunition. He didn't stop UN votes, he was against us, that's clear. And to me Witkow is someone who can really help, because behind him is a different administration, since all the wind blowing from President Donald Trump is wind wanting to bring Israel's victory and the hostages' return."

"My man, I'm waiting for you at home." The post Noa, Avintan's partner, wrote | Photo: From Noa Argamani's Instagram page

Do you notice any change since the Chief of Staff changed?
"Yes. Part of the gang making efforts for the war not to progress toward conclusion was the former Chief of Staff (Herzi Halevi), with his method of raids, sending soldiers again and again to same places. For example, entering Jabalia five, six, seven times. Conquering-leaving, conquering-leaving. And this doesn't advance the campaign anywhere. The current Chief of Staff (Eyal Zamir) operates differently - conquering and not leaving. And this slowly suffocates Hamas."
Could such military moves advance Avintan's release?
"Absolutely. Let's start with Hamas having no interest to release Avintan and all other hostages. They didn't take them to return them but to break our spirit, and they're not doing badly at it. We need to create motivation for them to release hostages. And pampering them again and again with cigarettes and desserts - that's no serious incentive."
Ditza Or, mother of hostage Avintan Or
"God constantly speaks to us, everything that happens is speech." Ditza Or

Hand on heart, do you believe intensive military action can help?
"Yes. And we've said this from the start, not just the past week or two. I think there's risk, and clearly fighting is a dangerous situation, also for hostages. Some hostages were murdered in captivity, but hostages also died from the duration there: from conditions, starvation, abuse, loneliness. Hostages also died unrelated to fighting. And this duration - it's because there was no quick, decisive military resolution. So in any case the hostages are in very difficult, dangerous situations, and that's part of the game. There's no single safe, precise framework that can return them."
Is there expectation for a video? Do you imagine the moment you'll see Avintan?
"Of remaining living hostages, half received videos and half didn't. I'm torn inside - on one hand seeing Avintan, you could say that's my life's aspiration now. On the other hand it's also terrifying. I don't know what condition I'll see him in and what that will do to me. I know I need to be strong, and as I told you earlier, maintain a high frequency of faith. For him. Because I have a battle to wage for him, to bring him home, and also because we're energetically and spiritually connected. And if I fall, I know I affect him, and if I'm in faith and hope and strength, I strengthen him."
"The thought raced that maybe Avintan was rescued with her"
This week marked one year since perhaps one of the few optimistic moments we've experienced since the war began - Operation "Arnon," named after fallen Arnon Zmora, which also returned to Israel Noa, her son's beloved. Throughout Noa's eight months in captivity, the Argamani and Or families hoped that at least Noa and Avintan were held together, clinging to each other. But when Noa returned it became clear this wasn't so. In fact, that infamous kidnapping moment seen worldwide was the last time they saw each other. Thus also faded the hope that Noa might bring new information shedding light on the unknown.
Noa Argamani with Ditza, Avintan Or's mother

"After she returned, our connection deepened infinitely because I hadn't met her before." Ditza and Noa
"After she returned, our connection deepened infinitely because I hadn't met her before," recounts Or. "Noa and Avintan lived and studied in Be'er Sheva, where Noa grew up, naturally he was often with Noa's family who knew him well. They already called him 'our son-in-law,' spoke of grandchildren, everything was arranged from their perspective. Then after about a year, when they were already a couple, I told him: Nu, Avintan, come on. We also want to see Noa. We scheduled a Shabbat and at the last moment it fell through. 'No, she can't. She has an exam tomorrow.' No big deal, not urgent. We scheduled again, another Shabbat, and again last-minute it fell through. Suddenly she was flying abroad tomorrow. And so again and again it got canceled. I'm not a pushy type. 'Okay, fine, not now, then later.'"
"Then, about a month and a half after they were kidnapped, we flew to New York on a Chabad flight. There I met Yaakov, Noa's father. One day I sat with him for breakfast and he said, 'Listen, Ditza, I need to apologize to you.' We'd barely known each other two days, what could he have done to apologize to me? So he said: 'Noa didn't come to you because I didn't allow her. I told her it's dangerous in Shilo.' And then as we know they went to a party that wasn't supposed to be dangerous, and we know what happened there. So that's why I hadn't met Noa. When she returned was the first time we met her. Today we have an amazing connection. She's an amazing girl, smart, brave, generous and straight. Something truly amazing. She's a stunning girl and we're in close contact. We talk quite a bit and I can say her vibe strengthens me."
"I heard about the rescue that same Shabbat. Two of my friends came running to us, knocked on the door and excitedly said Noa was rescued. Then they added she was rescued with three other guys. No one could tell me more, not even our neighbors, and the thought kept racing that maybe, maybe one is Avintan. After all, they were kidnapped together. And then the disappointment was most bitter. On one hand the greatest possible joy that she's here. On the other hand it made Avintan's absence very, very present."
Avintan Or
"He's 1.97m in a 1.70m tunnel." Avintan Or
And this was also when it became clear to the families that Noa and Avintan weren't held together at all. "In the kidnapping video you see her on the motorcycle, and he's walking, and from that moment she never saw him again. This broke us very, very much, both because we believed they were together there and hoped she could tell us about him. But nothing. It was terribly hard. And Noa was also very disappointed, because she expected us, with all our serious intelligence agencies, could tell her things we know about Avintan. She wanted to hear but we had nothing to tell. It was an awfully hard segment for both of us."
The statement and attack: "They twisted the knife in me"
In August, Or was interviewed on the late-night show "Avri and Sharki" by Avri Gilad and Yair Sharki, shortly after another conversation with the prime minister she participated in. The hosts mainly wanted to know what was said in the meeting. Before the show, Or requested "two minutes to speak to Yahya Sinwar." The result was dramatic and unexpected: live on air, the mother addressed the then-Hamas leader proposing a "new deal": Hamas would return all 109 hostages then held in exchange for five family members of senior security officials - the sons of Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, Shin Bet head Ronen Bar and hostages coordinator Nitzan Alon. Gilad was shocked by her words and said: "I want to stop because I think you'll be severely attacked." Sharki requested: "Let's stop, these are difficult words coming from a mother's heart." Following that broadcast, the hosts published clarifications and apologies. Sharki wrote: "The words said are not part of the discourse boundaries we seek to enable. We didn't know she'd say these things. We were surprised live." Gilad claimed she proposed a "horrific offer."
And now, nearly a year later, she addresses at length that uproar for the first time. "The reactions I received are a perfect display of hypocrisy. There's one side of the public allowed to say everything, permitted to make displays full of violence, full of blood, 'severed heads,' propaganda and very violent messages and it's 'okay' as long as it's against Netanyahu and the government. And on the other side when someone says some sentence - and I was also cut off mid-sentence, didn't finish what I wanted to say - then 'wow, what a disaster.' I received very violent reactions. Things completely irrelevant, about my head covering, about me not loving Avintan because he doesn't wear a kippa, awful things. The knife, already in my heart - they come and twist it hard-hard, without any mercy. All this sanctimony that 'hostages are allowed everything' and 'hostage families mustn't be criticized, because we're not in their place,' all this is only true on one side. When it touches another position, all knives are drawn."

And still, it's a very, very sharp statement against Halevi and Bar, also involving family members.
"Regarding Ronen Bar it's actually being proven I was much more right than what I said. Ronen Bar at 3am between October 6-7 already started disseminating alerts to various places, this appears in his affidavit. Avintan and Noa - and this is important for the article - arrived at the party at 4:30am, an hour and a half after the system already knew what was coming there, and there were already alerts. Hamas's operation was already underway, already rolling, and no one stopped them. Ronen Bar personally knew thousands of terrorists were now at the border, with rockets and everything, and he didn't tell Avintan, 'Listen, dear, stay home,' nor Noa, nor the thousands of young people at the party. He didn't call the party organizers to stop and disperse the event. Where were you? And as more evidence accumulates about this whole October 7 sequence, we increasingly understand why he didn't want to get up from his chair. Because what we'll discover about his chair will be much-much worse than failure. I had a meeting with him in early March 2024, ten months after this I requested another meeting, and his office told me, 'You already had a meeting.' That's it."
The Shin Bet responded: "The Shin Bet head has met since the war's start every hostage or fallen soldier's family requesting to meet him. Out of respect for the families we won't address conversations with them. The Shin Bet and its head have acted and continue acting in every possible way to return all hostages."
Avintan Or and Noa Argamani
Avintan and Noa. Lived together two years, kidnapped together that cursed morning
Can you understand the shock caused by the statement about the Chief of Staff and Shin Bet head's children?
"Clearly it's not a realistic proposal - and that's what I wanted to add then - but that I'm calling all those I mentioned managing negotiations to think as if their child were there. And when they for example open the Philadelphi route while hostages are still there, to consider the implications. Philadelphi isn't just a line on the map, it's Gaza's back door. You're letting terrorists hold your child, then opening a door for them to smuggle him anywhere in the world. God have mercy. Would you do this if it were your child? I felt then, and feel even more now, that everyone managing the campaign did so cynically because it wasn't their child. He was detached, alienated, he didn't care. My statement was, 'Put yourselves in my place - and from that place manage negotiations.'"
You didn't mention Netanyahu in that opportunity.
"Correct. Because Netanyahu is already endlessly attacked. Additionally, there are two circles of responsibility: there's responsibility for all recent years, from Oslo until today, where Netanyahu has a significant share, regarding Hamas's coddling and empowerment. And there's direct responsibility - intelligence, alert and military - directly related to the October 7 failure, and also responsibility for everything since. These are two chapters of direct responsibility. In that interview I referred only to direct responsibility, but ranking what's more or less important isn't relevant."  link I do not comment about what hostage families say and I won't do that here, either. I will only say some things about the Tikva (Hope) Forum which is a small group of hostage families that are supportive of Netanyahu and his actions and statements. The Tikva Forum was actually formed by people in Netanyahu's Office as a way to show support for him and his actions from within Hostage families and to show a strong contrast to the Forum of Hostage and Missing Families. They are the families that Netanyahu and his people talk to regularly, avoiding and ignoring most of the request of the other families to meet with them. Ron Dermer the worthless minister that Netanyahu put in charge of the hostage negotiations, who has done virtually nothing to get them released, has met exclusively with member of the Tikva Forum as they are Netanyahu supporters. He has ignored every request from all other hostage families to meet with them. The Tikva Forum has bought into the myth that more military pressure will bring about the release of the hostages while the majority of Israel recognizes this to be a fantasy and that more military pressure actually kills the hostages, which we have seen too many times. There is a reason that the Tikva Forum is a minority group of the hostage families because their open support of Netanyahu and his methods has done absolutely nothing to bring the hostages home.

  • Israelis wake to new uncertainty after overnight attack on Iran’s nuclear program

As military strikes targets a thousand miles away, citizens on the homefront are roused by emergency alerts and return to sleep in shelters ahead of Iran’s expected response

The streets of Tel Aviv were calm on Friday morning, even as the country’s leaders warned the public to brace for Iranian retaliation after Israel launched a wide-scale attack on Iran.

The military closed schools nationwide and banned public gatherings, canceling the annual Tel Aviv Pride parade, which normally attracts tens of thousands of revelers to the city.

“We’ve already been in this scenario twice,” said 31-year-old Uri, sitting on a bench outside a supermarket, questioning whether to open his restaurant or have to throw out the day’s food.

“I don’t really care, honestly. I’ll just go to a shelter and I’ll be okay,” he said, when asked whether he had any concerns about his own safety.

Iran fired hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles at Israel in two attacks last year amid the ongoing war in the region sparked by the Hamas terror group’s October 7, 2023, attack. The barrages rattled the Israeli public but caused only modest damage.

Vered Saar, another local, was more shaken, saying what frightened her most was the potential for “uncertainty and chaos.”

The 54-year-old pastry chef said she immediately rang her children when her phone began beeping with an extreme emergency alert overnight.

Sirens blared across the country around 3 a.m., amid anticipation of an Iranian response, and shortly afterward Israelis were told to stay near shelters until further notice.

“It was very scary… I couldn’t go back to sleep,” Saar told AFP as shops remained shut and streets deserted. “I’m more worried about the uncertainty — the possibility of many injured people, of chaos,” she added.

“I’m worried for my children, and also about my livelihood, because this affects the market. You can’t work, you can’t do anything.”

In its largest military action against Iran to date, Israel’s wave of strikes hit about 100 targets, including nuclear facilities and military command centers, and killed senior figures, among them the armed forces chief and top nuclear scientists.

Later, the military confirmed that Iran had launched approximately 100 drones in retaliation. But by the afternoon, the Home Front Command lifted the shelter advisory, stating that citizens no longer needed to remain near protected areas. The military said that the threat from the Iranian drones was “under control.”

Across Israel, supermarkets and some cafes remained open, although some businesses chose to keep their doors shuttered. Shoppers stocked up on food and bottled water, prompting long queues at checkouts.

“My fridge is empty,” said 41-year-old Noha as she made her way to a supermarket. The mother of two said she was due to celebrate their wedding anniversary with her husband at a hotel.

Noha said she was worried about the severity of any potential retaliatory strike, adding that people were asking whether the bomb shelters in their apartment buildings would be strong enough to withstand it, or if it might be safer to seek refuge underground.

Many Israelis expressed exhaustion and a deep sense of unease. University lecturer Or Hasson said he felt helpless.

“The feeling is that we don’t really have anyone to rely on,” said Hasson, 45.

“The feeling is that we have a government that is playing with our lives and with the lives of others. We’re worried, of course, tired, and a bit helpless. That’s how I feel, at least,” he said.

“The only thing that’s certain is uncertainty. And we adjust how we live from moment to moment according to the changes, and that’s something that is both exhausting and demoralizing,” he said.

Jerusalemite Reuven Peleg said he, his wife and young daughter spent the night in their building’s bomb shelter, a communal room located in the basement of the building.

Even after the Home Front Command dropped the instructions to stay near shelters, he told The Times of Israel that he doesn’t “feel over it.”

The situation had moved to an “in the meantime,” he said, though he admitted feeling more concerned about matters before the all clear came, worrying about how long the family might be required to spend in the shelter should an Iranian attack come.

As a precaution, he canceled plans to spend the weekend with his parents out of town and said he was still unclear whether he was supposed to show up for his job at a high-tech company on Sunday.

At the same time, some Israelis hailed the strikes.

“In principle, I think that’s a good idea,” said Alex, who gave only his first name. “Iran is not being a very good world citizen, so to say, and the nuclear program is obviously a problem,” he said.

“In general, yeah, I think it had to be done at some point.”  Link  Early this morning, I was at Ben Gurion airport on my way to Florida for 10 days  just as I passed security, the siren was sounded and everyone in the airport had to go to a safe protected area. This alert was very different than any we have gotten for the past 20 months.  It didn’t say missiles or rockets or terrorist infiltration. No one understood what was happening except the notifications that our attack on Iran began.  I called home to see if they knew and they didn’t but we all listened to the instructions from the home front command.

Being in the airport protected area brought me back to October 2023. I was out of the country when we were attacked and tried to get home as soon as I could. As I was waiting for my bags, the red alert sounded and we all ran to the protected area. After a while, we were told it was safe to go out. 5 minutes later, another red alert and going to the shelter.

This morning, I immediately decided to cancel my trip and head home. I couldn’t imagine not being with my family during this new war.  An announcement came over the airport speakers that all flights are canceled and the airport is closed. I contacted my daughter to come and pick me up and until she arrived, there was another alert. Now my concern was for her as well as the instructions for dealing with an alert during driving is to pull over, get out of the car and away from it, lay on the ground and cover your head for ten minutes until the danger of falling shrapnel passes. These are the instructions for missile attacks. We still didn’t know if there were missiles launched at us.  Her drive to the airport was filled with anxiety. She arrived and we drove home, glued to the news and waiting for news if retaliation.
We heard that Iran launched a couple of hundred explosive drones at ys and home front command gave us the estimation for them to reach Israel, about 2 hours. And the waiting game began again. In the meantime, it was reported that the air force and our air defenses succeeded in shooting down all 200 drones before they reached our borders, they were shot down over Jordan (Jordan gave our planes permission to fly over Jordanian airspace to hit the drones) and Jordan. That eliminated the first retaliation attack and now the waiting game is for a massive ballistic missile attack. Iran has thousands of these missiles as well as thousands or more of explosive drones.

We know that there will be retaliation and will not be a one time occurrence. So, the entire country is in a waiting game. While writing this, a Houthi ballistic missile was launched from Yemen and put millions into safe rooms and protective spaces. We are expected more Houthi missiles as they are close allies to Iran and Iran has been their supplier of missiles and other weapons.

A three-month-old baby was among those rescued from the rubble of a destroyed home in Rishon Lezion after it was hit by an Iranian missile.

“I pulled her into my arms and then gave her to the first police officer I saw, and then started lifting out all the other family members,” Fire and Rescue Service Captain Idan Chen tells the Walla news site.

“As we were doing this there were people trapped in the home above and next door — and opposite there was a fire — and I’m trying to manage the incident amid complete destruction,” he says.

Two people were killed and 19 wounded in the early morning strike that destroyed several family homes.

    The baby was lightly wounded.

Overnight, seven wounded people were evacuated to Ichilov Medical Center, most of them in mild condition and one in moderate condition.

At the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya last night, two men, 88 and 57, and one woman, 64, were injured while on their way to shelters during the overnight barrages. The woman was released, and the men, in moderate condition, are being treated in the orthopedic unit.

One woman who arrived at Beilinson Hospital died of her wounds.

    The Region and the World

  • These are the missiles and UAVs Iran has – and this is Israel's response to them

In Israel they are prepared for ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and UAVs that Iran may launch • This is Israel’s great advantage – and the air defense array intended to handle additional attacks.

After the wide-scale attack by the IDF on Iran last night (between Thursday and Friday), Israel is on high alert for fire from Iran, which possesses a vast arsenal that includes ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and UAVs.

The Israeli defense – and the possible response

Israel’s air defense system works to detect the threats in time. Even neighboring countries that identify a launch carried out toward Israel can intercept it.

Ballistic missiles that Iran may launch from its territory reach Israel about 12 minutes after launch and are intercepted by the "Arrow" and THAAD systems. Cruise missiles will arrive about two hours after launch and are intercepted by the "Iron Dome" and "David’s Sling" systems. UAVs are expected to arrive only about 9 hours after their launch and are intercepted, among other means, by the "Iron Dome."

Scenarios for attack from Iran | Photo: News 12
Left - UAVs - 9 hours from launch to Israel- Iron Dome defense
Middle - Cruise Missiles - 2 hours - David's Sling and Iron Dome
Right - Ballistic Missile - 12 minutes - Arrow and THAAD system

In addition to the ground-based defense systems, Air Force planes are also armed and participate in the interceptions.

Iran indeed has a large ground army composed of hundreds of thousands of regular and reserve soldiers, alongside more than 200,000 fighters in the Revolutionary Guards. However, the reasonable assessment at present is that all military confrontations between Israel and Iran are expected to occur in the air – between the Iranian Air Force and missiles, and the Israeli Air Force.

Weakness of the Air Force – and the threat of thousands of missiles

In terms of fighter jets, Israel has a clear advantage. While the Israeli Air Force is equipped with advanced fighter jets like the F-35, F-15, and F-16, Iran has only old fighter jets such as F-14, F-4, F-7, F-5, and also a few Russian combat planes of the SU-24 and MiG-29 types.

Iran is well aware of its weakness in the field of fighter jets, as was clearly evident in the two Iranian attacks on Israel in April and October. Iran’s main strength is in its missiles and UAVs.

Iran’s ballistic missiles effective at range for launch toward Israel:

    • Shahab-3: effective for a range of about 1,300 km

    • Ghadr: effective for a range of 1,600 km

    • Emad: effective for a range of 2,500–1,600 km

    • Khorramshahr 1, 2, 4: effective for a range of 2,000–3,000 km

    • Fateh-1: effective for a range of 1,400 km

    • Haj Qassem: effective for a range of 1,400 km

    • Kheibar Shekan: effective for a range of 1,450 km

    • Sejjil: effective for a range of up to 2,000 km

    Iran’s UAVs effective toward Israel:

    • Shahed-129: effective for 1,700 km

    • Gaza: effective for 2,000 km

    • Mohajer: effective for 2,000 km

    • Arash-2: effective for 2,000 km

    • Shahed-136: effective for 2,500 km

    • Kaman-122: effective for 3,000 km

Iran possesses thousands, even tens of thousands, of unmanned aerial vehicles. As is remembered, in the attack toward Israel in April 2024, Iran launched 170 UAVs – all of which were intercepted. Unlike ballistic missiles, UAVs are much slower and considered easier to intercept. They only gain advantage when launched in large numbers, thereby overloading air defense systems and capabilities.

    The Iranian missile Khorramshahr

The main and central UAVs Iran uses are suicide UAVs of the "Shahed" type, similar to those Iran exports to Russia for the war in Ukraine. The Shahed-136, with a range of about 2,500 km, travels at a speed of about 185 km/h and carries a warhead weighing 40–50 kg. In the last Iranian attack in October 2024, UAVs were not used, apparently due to a desire to avoid early detection of the attack – since they must be launched many hours before impact on the target.

The layers of Israel’s air defense

Israel’s air defense system against missiles, rockets, and unmanned aerial vehicles has, in the past year’s war, become a central component in the defense doctrine. Israel operates four different air defense systems intended to intercept aerial threats from various ranges and trajectories.

    • "Arrow-2" system: system for intercepting medium- and long-range surface-to-surface missiles (upper layer, can intercept ballistic missiles outside the atmosphere). The cost of an interceptor missile in the Arrow system – about 3 million dollars.

    • "Arrow-3" system: system for intercepting long-range surface-to-surface missiles (upper layer, can intercept ballistic missiles outside the atmosphere). The cost of an interceptor missile in the Arrow system – about 3 million dollars.

    • "Iron Dome" system: system for intercepting short-range surface-to-surface rockets (lower layer). The cost of an interceptor missile in the Iron Dome system – about 30 thousand dollars.

    • "David’s Sling" system (Magic Wand): system for intercepting medium- and short-range surface-to-surface missiles and for intercepting medium- and long-range surface-to-surface rockets (lower layer). The cost of an interceptor missile in the David’s Sling system – about 700 thousand dollars.

    The Iranian missile Kheibar Shekan

Also, the American THAAD area air defense battery, operated by dozens of American soldiers on Israeli soil, is expected to participate in the interception efforts. This is an advanced air defense system developed by Lockheed Martin for the U.S. Department of Defense to defend against ballistic missiles.

Its main purpose is to intercept and destroy enemy missiles in their final flight phase – meaning, when they are already en route to the target. What distinguishes the system is its ability to operate both within and outside the atmosphere, and it has intercepted quite a few missiles from Yemen that were launched toward Israel in recent months.  link

'The enemy won’t return': IDF troops detail deeper gains, tactics in renewed Khan Younis operation

Military opens Gaza’s Khan Younis combat zone to Ynet journalist, showcasing Operation Gideon’s Chariots’ strategic tunnel warfare, hostage recoveries and attrition tactics against Hamas
For the first time since the launch of Operation Gideon’s Chariots, the IDF allowed journalists into combat zones inside Gaza. Reporters joined Col. Sh., commander of the 7th Armored Brigade, in Khan Younis
—where his unit has operated since the ground offensive began. “This is a test of determination and endurance,” Col. Sh. said. “We’ve developed new capabilities, improved intelligence and better precision—especially underground. In past operations, troops entered with limited intel. Today, we know where we’re going, what the enemy's center of gravity is and which parts of the tunnel system to strike.”
While Hamas continues to operate a dense underground tunnel network, Sh. said the brigade aims to destroy critical tunnel segments to collapse the broader infrastructure. “We reached the main tunnel arteries relatively quickly, surprising Hamas and allowing us to destroy key underground assets. We’re also discovering new strongholds.”
The brigade now uses tools that were previously unavailable, including drones. “It takes time to fully analyze tunnel intel,” he added, “but our new tools help us extract valuable information faster.”
Maj. L., the brigade’s operations officer, stressed the importance of moving methodically. “We’re not wasting time—we’re working thoroughly so we don’t have to return. People have died here. That guides our mission.”
According to him, “the enemy won’t return. We know exactly where we’re going and what we’re doing. In the past, we were told to seize areas blindly. Now we have better intelligence and better planning.”
One outcome of that planning was revealed Thursday morning, when the IDF recovered the bodies of hostages Gadi Haggai and Judy Weinstein from Gaza.

Meanwhile, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reported that 7th Brigade forces have destroyed some 400 terror infrastructure sites, eliminated numerous terrorists and neutralized seven key tunnel shafts used by terror groups.

‘It looks slow—but we’re eliminating the entire area’

Reporters entered Khan Younis aboard a heavily armored vehicle. The journey took nearly 50 minutes—underscoring how deep the IDF has penetrated into the area. Along the route, nearly every structure was damaged or destroyed.
“This time, we’re going in deep and systematically,” said Col. Sh. “It may look slow, but it protects our forces. And unlike past operations, we’re dismantling the arena completely. Once we’re done, Hamas won’t be able to return for years.”
At a temporary staging area for resting troops, Lt. Col. D., commander of the 77th Battalion, said Hamas had clearly prepared for this round of fighting. “They studied us and adapted to the operation. There’s less face-to-face fighting now—more hidden explosives and remote detonation after spotting our forces. But we’ve developed tactics to dismantle that infrastructure.”
Maj. Y., the brigade’s medical officer, described how the nature of injuries has shifted. “We’ve seen all types. But now it’s less about gunfire and more about explosives.” He said he’s served over 300 days in reserves, previously fighting in both Lebanon and Gaza. “The last time, there were more enemy fighters and more clashes. Now it’s mostly underground. Wherever we go, we dismantle.”

Troops, both active-duty and reserve, noted that the way humanitarian aid is distributed also impacts the fighting. “Many terrorists appear to have dropped their weapons and moved into civilian areas. That means Hamas has fewer fighters in the field. It’s still a fight—but we can see the difference.”
Col. Sh. said Israel is engaged in a war of attrition. “Thinking we can wrap it up quickly with one big blow is a mistake. We must build a military that can fight long, drawn-out campaigns. That doesn’t mean we don’t want short wars—but the enemy has adapted. When they realize we can fight long-term, their attrition strategy will lose effectiveness.”
The IDF has returned to Khan Younis—again. But this time, troops believe a combination of extended operations, tactical changes and humanitarian strategy could lead to different, possibly decisive, results. Ultimately, investigations into the October 7 massacre will also have to ask: why did we need to fight here so many times? link
